Two donors will match funds for Lighthouse Program for Grieving Children
Britta Martini-Miles is tackling the Mercedes Benz Oakville 10K to raise money for the Lighthouse Program for Grieving Children.
The executive director of the charitable organization that provides support for children, teens and adults after the death of a family member, will be using the annual race, to be held Apr. 26, to raise money for its Lighthouse Legacy campaign. The campaign’s goal is to find a larger home to help increase and expand the organization’s services.
Two family donors have agreed to match donations. One is matching all donations up to $50,000. Another donor is matching any individual donation between $500 and $10,000.
Farm Credit of Virginia to match donations up to $25,000 for Blue Ridge Area Food Bank
The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is kicking off a new program aimed at helping families in need get healthy food. They’re starting a partnership that brings a farm-to-table twist to their food donation efforts.
The food bank is building a giant cooler to house perishable food, specifically produce. The cooler will double the food bank’s capacity for storing produce at the Verona headquarters.
Even though the food bank is going to get this produce at a discount through the new program, they still need to pay for it so they’re looking for donations. Farm Credit of Virginia, also a partner in this program, plans to match donations up to $25,000.
